PROJECT TYPE – Contemporary metal stairs for a house refurbishment

LOCATION – County Wicklow

APPROXIMATE BUDGET  – €11,200

These contemporary stairs were designed by the house owner Sinead and myself. Sinead was on the second time round refurbishing her home and had completely stripped the building. Her husband was managing the build as a self build, the interior of the cottage was to have a full fit-out in a  contemporary style. Sinead likes the look of the raw metal in my workshop.  I am in the process of developing a polished finish to achieve this look but haven’t quite gotten the process right yet.

As a result, Sinead young children brought polish all over the painted surfaces in her newly finished contemporary home. Sinead would prefer to live with the risk of getting marks on her paintwork than give up the raw metal look. I talked to her husband recently and the raw finish has settled down and there is no more polish leaving the surface. So fingers crossed for the future of this type of finish.
